I spent three years flirting with a kitchen remodel. After not being satisfied with the quality of cabinets at a local vendor, I went back to Ultimo. I bought the Hayden door style with marshmallow cream on maple.

I worked with a great designer who made several revisions for me and we designed the space moving appliances and pantry, plus added smart storage in the corner cabinets, internal cabinets, and even a countertop appliance garage. In addition, we added 12” deep cabinets to the back of our peninsula cabinets to make an even larger countertop work station. And we added two outlets and a light switch to the base cabinets. I was hesitant to do this all online but it worked fine.

My suggestions as follows came from the entire learning experience. I should have paid a cabinet installer to measure my space and not relied on myself, I as about 5” off so my cabinets extended into the dining room more than I thought and my talented contractor used scrap material to create a filler panels in two areas. I didn’t account for my crown molding interfering with canned lighting as my new upper cabinets extended to the ceiling. I ended up buying new crown and matched the cabinet color and painted the molding myself. I moved lights as well and added pendant lights to the peninsula. This last minute change cost me two weeks delay because I had to get the new contractor scheduled. Hiring the right cabinet installer is critical. These cabinets are heavy and I learned how much slope there is in building homes so he had to do a lot of shimming. We ended up doing base shoe molding in addition to the skins the cabinet manufacturer sent because the floor was so uneven. My house was built in 2000!

You end up being the general contractor so understanding the steps of the project and scheduling the contractors is a critical piece. Demo, moving electrical, plumbing a new water line , install cabinets (don’t forget under cabinet lights), sink install (more plumbing), countertops, tile, appliances then electrical hookups. Crown and floor skins after flooring.

The cabinets arrive individually packaged: cardboard, styrofoam, foam wrap and plastic wrap. Impressive, and they were all perfect. They need to be acclimated to the environment so having space for them and accounting for the waste disposal is important piece as well.

We bought our cabinets in January, installed them and are in total love. These cabinets are the highest quality. We love all the accessories that we ordered, especially the pull-out lazy Susan. We have so many complements from friends and family. The ordering process with the professionals was seamless, their help in making sure everything fit was more than you get anywhere else.

My interaction with the designer Eddie was superb. He is very patient, thoughtful, and professional. I was clueless about my kitchen project in the beginning but I knew right away that I was working with a great designer and company. We had to postpone our kitchen renovation for a personal reason, but like all Costco services, I had a great experience. Thank you.

Designer Donna Weld was great to work with for our basement kitchen project. She provided excellent guidance and support for us as we planned to install the cabinetry ourselves and had no experience with this type of work. We could not be happier with the final result!

We could not be more pleased with the custom cabinet quality and value from Tuscan Hills. Our kitchen, island, and laundry room custom cabinets were the highest quality based on industry material and construction standards. They also were one third the price of similar quality cabinets produced locally. Solid wood panels, highest quality Blum hardware, and dovetail construction were used. Design sessions were in NY/NJ and fabrication in South Dakota. We had many remote design sessions which included 3D color renderings. Photometric software was used and laser measurement verified the dimensions within several 1/16ths ” for ~ 30′ walls. We finally finished installing our new cabinets after a year of remodeling the entire kitchen. We love our new kitchen and very pleased with the quality of the wood.
